Purdue Sues To Halt Sandoz's Generic OxyContin Plans

Law360, New York (October 11, 2012, 2:47 PM EDT) -- Purdue Pharma LP and Grunenthal GmbH on Wednesday hit rival Sandoz Inc. with a suit in New York federal court, seeking to block Sandoz's plans to market a generic reformulated version of blockbuster painkiller OxyContin.

According to the suit, Princeton, N.J.-based Sandoz’s abbreviated new drug application for seven dosage strengths of extended-release oxycodone hydrochloride tablets infringes on a patent for a purportedly “abuse-proofed” version of the drug.
