FirstMerit Faces Suit Over ATM's Lack Of Posted Fee Notice

Law360, New York (October 12, 2012, 3:59 PM EDT) -- FirstMerit Bank NA and FirstMerit Corp. were hit Tuesday with a proposed class action accusing them of violating the Electronic Fund Transfer Act by not posting a notice telling consumers they would be charged for using the bank’s automated teller machine.

The lawsuit is the latest to make such allegations against a variety of companies, and the issue of ATM fees has even attracted the attention of Congress recently.
