$30M Toshiba LCD Deal OK'd Over Dell Objections

Law360, New York (October 16, 2012, 3:02 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Monday approved a $30 million settlement between a class of direct purchasers and Toshiba Corp. over the company's role in a price-fixing cartel for liquid crystal display panels, overruling Dell Inc.'s bid to block the deal.

Reached last month, the agreement will vacate an $87 million jury verdict against Toshiba in favor of the smaller sum, but will do so to avoid a potentially protracted fight over whether Toshiba would actually have to pay for the verdict. The company has claimed...
