Send Gupta To Rwanda, Not Jail, Defense Says

Law360, New York (October 17, 2012, 6:37 PM EDT) -- Rajat Gupta has already been punished enough for insider trading without going to prison, his lawyers argued Wednesday, suggesting that the former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director could do community service in rural Rwanda.

Gupta's stunning downfall from a career atop the U.S. business world is enough to deter corporate bosses from following his path, his lawyers contended in a brief to U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff.
