LA Real Estate Assessor Arrested In Tax Fraud Scheme

Law360, New York (October 17, 2012, 8:46 PM EDT) -- A Los Angeles County assessor was arrested Wednesday for allegedly accepting $185,000 to assign lower values on certain properties that allegedly led to unwarranted property tax refunds for his appraiser's clients and more than $1.1 million in losses to the county.

John Noguez, 47, was arrested along with chief appraiser and Arizona tax consultant Ramin Salari, 49, who paid Noguez bribes for his help in assigning lower property values so that property owners represented by Salari would get refunds, Los Angeles prosecutors allege in a complaint...
