'Superman' Heirs Lost Rights In DC Comics Deal, Judge Says

Law360, New York (October 17, 2012, 11:07 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday handed DC Comics a win in its copyright dispute with the heirs of Superman co-creator Joseph Shuster, saying the heirs gave up their ability to reclaim their 50 percent interest in the property in a 1992 agreement.

U.S. District Judge Otis D. Wright II awarded the Warner Bros. subsidiary its motion for partial summary judgment in its suit against the heirs of Shuster and co-creator Jerome Siegel looking to secure rights to the Superman material.
