US Requests Leniency For Cooperative Galleon Trader

Law360, Wilmington (October 18, 2012, 10:08 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors asked a New York federal judge Thursday to consider Micheal Cardillo’s “extraordinary” assistance in cracking the insider trading ring run by his old boss, Raj Rajaratnam, when sentencing the former Galleon Group LLC trader next week.

Cardillo, who pled guilty in January 2011 for his part in the epic insider trading scheme, was the first active Galleon employee to cooperate with the probe, and his information was critical in convincing the government to widen its net to snare former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director Rajat...
