LA County Assessor Denies Tax Fraud Charges

Law360, New York (October 18, 2012, 9:30 PM EDT) -- A Los Angeles County assessor pled not guilty Thursday to charges that he took bribes to assign lower property values and cost the county more than $1.1 million in lost property tax revenue.

John Noguez, 47, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly accepting $185,000 in bribes. The next day he entered a not guilty plea, according Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons.
