Austin Panel Gives Thumbs-Down To $90M Boutique Hotel

Law360, New York (October 24, 2012, 3:37 PM EDT) -- Austin, Texas' planning commission voted Tuesday night to give a negative recommendation for a proposed $90 million boutique hotel that is being battled by the owners of neighboring office properties.

In a 5-3 vote, the commission kicked the project over to the city council with its negative recommendation, blasting the developer's request to chop in half a 60-foot setback for the building — a move that would potentially block views of the capitol along Congress Avenue.
