Ex-Manager Manipulated Spears for Fame, Atty Says

Law360, Los Angeles (October 19, 2012, 10:40 PM EDT) -- Britney Spears' former manager Sam Lutfi was a manipulator who took advantage of the “helpless and vulnerable” pop star to gain fame and fortune, an attorney for Spears' mother said Friday in her defense against accusations of libel.

Stephen Rohde told a Los Angeles Superior Court jury that none of the allegedly defamatory statements about Lutfi in Lynne Spears' tell-all book “Through the Storm” damaged his reputation since, long before its publication, “the media was already reporting that Sam Lutfi was attempting to control [Britney Spears']...
