AT&T Divests, DOJ Greenlights $2.8B Deal

Law360, New York (October 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- AT&T Inc. on Tuesday agreed to divest the Cellular One brand as part of its $2.8 billion acquisition of Dobson Communications Corp., in order to settle an antitrust suit brought against it the same day by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The DOJ sued the United States' largest wireless provider in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and immediately filed a consent decree, which the telecom giant promptly signed in an effort to put to rest fears that the Dobson transaction would raise...
