LA Jury Finds Artist Wrongly Fired For Fingering Drug Use

Law360, New York (October 24, 2012, 5:55 PM EDT) -- A California state jury on Tuesday found that a former Ascent Media Corp. visual effects artist was wrongfully fired after he blew the whistle on a colleague's alleged drug use.

A Los Angeles state superior court jury awarded $450,000 to digital artist Andrew MacDonald, who sued Ascent in 2010 for wrongful termination on claims that he was fired after reporting to his supervisors that he had witnessed a visual effects supervisor who worked on three "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies use cocaine on the job....
