NYC Committee OKs Chelsea Market Upzoning

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 4:38 PM EDT) -- The New York City Council's Committee on Zoning and Franchises on Thursday unanimously approved developer Jamestown Properties' request to upzone the Chelsea Market to accommodate two new office towers it plans to build on the historic site.

The committee voted 8-0 to recommend that the full council make the zoning changes necessary for construction to begin, but not before negotiating with Jamestown on a few new modifications spurred in part by a heated public hearing on the issue held Tuesday.
