NFL's Vilma Wants Tagliabue Off Bounty Suspension Appeal

Law360, New York (October 24, 2012, 11:27 PM EDT) -- New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma on Wednesday requested the disqualification of ex-National Football League Commissioner Paul Tagliabue from hearing an appeal by four players suspended for allegedly participating in a bounty program that rewarded knocking out opponents.

In a motion filed in the Eastern District of Louisiana, Vilma said Tagliabue cannot be an impartial arbitrator in the appeal, as the firm where he practices law, Covington & Burling LLP, is representing the NFL in all bounty-related matters.
