Calif. Jury Awards $4M in 1st Private Eye Wiretap Trial

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 7:08 PM EDT) -- A late billionaire philanthropist’s children and former personal assistant have won a $4 million jury award in California in the first trial of more than a dozen wiretapping suits against the high-profile clients of imprisoned former Hollywood private eye Anthony Pellicano.

Following a two-week trial, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury on Oct. 19 entered a unanimous $3.9 million verdict finding Jacqueline Colburn liable for invasion of privacy and causing emotional distress over her role in Pellicano’s wiretapping of phone lines on the Beverly Hills property...
