Ex-AT&T Worker Gets 1-Year Sentence For Insider Tipping

Law360, New York (October 26, 2012, 6:45 PM EDT) -- A former AT&T Inc. employee linked to an expert networking firm was sentenced Thursday to a year and a day in prison after pleading guilty to leaking confidential information to investors about AT&T's sales of Apple Inc.'s iPhone and other smartphones.

The sentencing follows a guilty plea from former AT&T worker Alnoor Ebrahim, who in June said that between 2008 and 2010 he illegally released insider information to investors regarding the phone company's sales of certain smartphones, including the iPhone and some of Research In Motion...
