NY Lawmaker Wants Stiff Penalties For Organized Cybercrime

Law360, New York (October 29, 2012, 3:07 PM EDT) -- A New York lawmaker introduced legislation Friday that would add computer-age crimes to a list of eligible offenses under a state law already used by prosecutors to hand long prison stints to organized mortgage, credit and insurance fraudsters.

Queens Democratic Sen. Jose Peralta's bill would amend state penal law to add a category of "offenses involving computers" to the state's enterprise corruption law — itself part of the Empire State's Organized Crime Control Act.
