Kaleida Health Hourly Employees Seek Wage Class Cert.

Law360, Washington (October 29, 2012, 6:32 PM EDT) -- A group of hourly employees of Kaleida Health hospitals and long-term care facilities urged a New York federal judge on Monday to certify two classes of workers who were shortchanged meal and overtime wages, saying the company has already admitted to the illegal policies.

The employees, who provide urgent and around-the-clock services for Kaleida facilities, requested class certification for employees who worked during unpaid meal breaks or who were affected by Kaleida's rounding policy. They allege Kaleida's policies violate the Fair Labor Standards Act.
