Smithfield Foods Slapped With FLSA Suit

Law360, New York (November 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Workers at a Smithfield Foods Inc. hog processing plant in North Carolina have filed a proposed class action lawsuit alleging they are owed overtime pay and unpaid wages.

Employees Jerry Parker, Wilbert Tatum, Dannie King Jr. and Alexander Herring brought the Fair Labor Standards Act suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

In addition to Smithfield, the suit also names Premium Standard Farms Inc., Conti Group of Companies Inc. and Lundy Packing Company. The suit alleged the defendants didn't...
