Philly Developer Fights To Push Up Property Tax Initiative

Law360, Philadelphia (October 30, 2012, 7:55 PM EDT) -- A Philadelphia real estate developer reportedly filed a class action against the city and state Friday, contending that a budget deal delaying the implementation of new tax assessment figures was unconstitutional.

The lawsuit filed by the Gerald S. Kaufman Group contends the deal, which delays the city's use of more accurate property assessment figures by one year, violates tax uniformity clauses in both the state and federal constitution, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.
