Dan Marino Charity Can Keep Rothstein Money

Law360, New York (November 2, 2012, 2:34 PM EDT) -- A charity run by football great Dan Marino does not have to return to creditors donations it received from Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein and his law firm, a bankruptcy judge ruled Wednesday.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Raymond B. Ray granted the Dan Marino Foundation's request that he dismiss a clawback suit brought by Herbert Stettin, the trustee recovering money for Rothstein's creditors. Stettin had sued to try to recover $259,000 that Rothstein and his firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler PA had donated to the foundation in pledges, charity...
