Baker Burton Skirts Tech Co.'s Stock-Misconduct Suit

Law360, New York (November 6, 2012, 10:41 PM EST) -- Law firm Baker Burton & Lundy on Monday ducked a securities suit in California federal court in which IP Telesis Inc. accused the firm's attorneys of conspiring with their clients at Velocity Networks Inc. to swindle shareholders out of their shares and gain control of the tech company.

Baker Burton & Lundy had argued that its advice to Velocity's chiefs was protected by attorney-client privilege, which would prevent the law firm from being able to use that information to effectively defend itself in court. The California...
