JPMorgan Doomed $1.85B Amaranth Rescue Deal, Atty Argues

Law360, New York (November 8, 2012, 6:21 PM EST) -- An attorney for Amaranth Advisors LLC asked a New York state appeals court on Thursday to revive its allegations that executives at its clearing broker, JPMorgan Chase & Co., talked another company out of saving the faltering hedge fund with a $1.85 billion rescue package, speeding its infamous 2006 demise.

Amaranth alleged that JPMorgan executives scuttled negotiations for the rescue package by hedge fund manager Citadel Investment Group LLC when they lied to Citadel about Amaranth's solvency and other issues.
