Senate Greenlights Broader Protections For Whistleblowers

Law360, New York (November 13, 2012, 10:20 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate on Tuesday approved changes to legislation aimed at strengthening protections for employees who blow the whistle on government fraud, meaning the bill is now on its way to the president's desk for a signature.

The lame-duck Senate’s vote on S. 743 comes about a month and a half after the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act. The Senate passed an earlier version of the bill in May.
