Trustee Wants Telemarketer's Bankruptcy Bumped To Ch. 7

Law360, New York (November 15, 2012, 7:32 PM EST) -- A U.S. trustee urged a California bankruptcy court Wednesday to convert a get-rich-quick real estate business owner's Chapter 11 case to a Chapter 7 to prevent the man from using his bankruptcy status to avoid paying $113 million in fines to the Federal Trade Commission.

U.S. Trustee Barbara Matthews urged the court to either dismiss John Beck's bankruptcy entirely or convert it to Chapter 7, arguing that he was using Chapter 11 incorrectly as a shelter against his FTC debt.
