Chevron Releases Cos. From Landfill Cleanup Suit

Law360, New York (November 16, 2012, 12:41 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Thursday approved settlements totaling $871,773 between Chevron USA Inc. and five companies the oil giant had sued seeking to recover cleanup costs for refinery waste and hazardous substances at a landfill near Bakersfield.

Chevron brought suit in August 2011 against 21 oil companies, contractors and manufacturers seeking to recover approximately $17 million in cleanup costs at the waste disposal facility under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.
