NBC Stole Idea For 'Stars Earn Stripes,' Suit Claims

Law360, New York (November 16, 2012, 3:23 PM EST) -- A former New York City police officer hit NBC Universal Inc. with a copyright infringement suit in California federal court Wednesday, alleging the TV network's “Stars Earn Stripes” show stole his idea for a military training-themed reality program.

Richard Dillon claims he pitched NBC producer Mark Hurwitz a show called “Celebrity SEALS,” which pitted celebrities against each other in the tough conditions of a military training camp, but that the network passed on the idea last year as “too niche.”
