Dechert Calls Coudert Suit Over Paris Office Deal 'Specious'

Law360, New York (November 19, 2012, 9:20 PM EST) -- Global law firm Dechert LLP asked a New York federal court Friday to slash claims from defunct law firm Coudert Brothers LLP's lawsuit over its 2005 takeover of Coudert's Paris office, saying it had to absorb $10 million in employment-related liabilities.

Dechert said Coudert's bankruptcy administrator, Development Specialists Inc., had claimed in court filings that its basis for challenging the transfer as fraudulent was that Coudert and its French affiliate, Coudert Freres, comprised a “single entity,” when in fact, it hadn't alleged that at all because...
