Surfer Not On Board With Nike's Use Of Dog Image

Law360, New York (November 26, 2012, 5:13 PM EST) -- A professional surfer who trained his dog to ride on the front of his board has sued Nike Inc. in California court, claiming the sneaker giant violated his privacy and exploited his likeness by slapping an image of the trick on T-shirts without his permission.

Santa Monica, Calif., resident Matt Howard says Nike, magazine publisher Hamburger Eyes and photographer Stefan Simikich have all improperly profited from a 2007 black-and-white photo of him and his dog Salima riding a wave, according to a Nov. 20 complaint....
