Obama Signs Law Enhancing Whistleblower Protection

Law360, New York (November 27, 2012, 5:01 PM EST) -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday inked the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act into law, strengthening legal protections for federal employees who blow the whistle on government fraud, waste and abuse, after the legislation passed both houses of Congress with unanimous support.

The act expands protections provided by the Whistleblower Protection Act of 1989, which prohibits executive branch departments and agencies from taking retaliatory action against any employee who reports waste, fraud, abuse or other wrongdoing at an agency.
