LG Phones Squashing BlackBerry Trademark: RIM

Law360, New York (November 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- BlackBerry manufacturer Research In Motion Ltd. has launched a suit against LG Electronics Inc. for alleged trademark infringement through its Black Label line of wireless handheld devices, including the Strawberry and Black Cherry versions of its popular Chocolate phones.

RIM filed a complaint Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against LG and its U.S. subsidiaries for allegedly tarnishing RIM's reputation by using the “confusingly similar” Black Label mark on wireless devices that compete with the BlackBerry.
