Jury Finds Seoul Semi Infringed Nichia LED Patents

Law360, New York (November 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A California federal court jury has found Seoul Semiconductor Co. Ltd. guilty of willfully infringing four Nichia Corp. light-emitting diode design patents, though Seoul said damages were limited to just $62.

After a nearly three-week trial, the jury in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California rendered a verdict on Thursday that Seoul and its U.S. subsidiary knew or should have known that its actions constituted infringement of valid and enforceable patents.
