Geico Investigators Not Exempt From OT, Judge Rules

Law360, New York (November 30, 2012, 3:27 PM EST) -- Geico General Insurance Co. misclassified security investigators as exempt from overtime pay requirements, a Maryland federal judge ruled Thursday, marking a victory for a group of current and former Geico investigators in a class and collective action overtime suit.

U.S. District Judge Roger W. Titus granted a motion for partial summary judgment from the plaintiffs, who asked the court to hold that they were misclassified as exempt administrative employees, and he set a trial date to determine how much Geico owed them.
