DOD Audit Finds Oversight Of $49M Bagram Projects Lacking

Law360, New York (November 30, 2012, 3:43 PM EST) -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers failed to properly oversee four construction projects at the U.S.’s Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, according to a report released on Tuesday by the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Defense.

The IG said that USACE Afghanistan Engineering District North (TAN) quality assurance personnel failed to approve the contractors’ quality control plans before the construction of the projects, failed to maintain QA documentation of contractors overseeing the project and performed infrequent inspections on the construction, according to the report....
