Cuomo Chided For Fannie, Freddie Subpoenas

Law360, New York (November 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight has chided New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo for roping Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into his probe of allegedly inflated mortgage appraisals, accusing him of misunderstanding the role of the two government-sponsored enterprises.

In a cutting letter, OFHEO Director James B. Lockhart III said on Thursday that the news release and press conference Cuomo gave the previous day suggested that he did not understand the difference between government-sponsored enterprises like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and other entities...
