Ex-Engineering Exec Cops To Evading NJ Pay-To-Play Rules

Law360, New York (December 3, 2012, 7:02 PM EST) -- A former executive with a New Jersey engineering firm pled guilty Friday to participating in a scheme to evade state pay-to-play restrictions and make illegal corporate campaign contributions.

Instead of Birdsall Services Group doling out political cash that could prevent it from winning government contracts, one-time Director of Marketing Philip Angarone admitted that he and other personnel cut checks of $300 or less that were bundled and sent to campaigns or political organizations, according to state Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa.
