Iranian, American Admit To Aerospace Export Plot

Law360, New York (December 4, 2012, 2:05 PM EST) -- An Iranian-American and an Iranian national pled guilty Monday in Kentucky federal court to charges that they plotted to export aircraft parts and helicopters to Iran, violating the American embargo on the country.

Iranian citizen Hamid Asefi, 68, and U.S. citizen Behzad “Tony” Karimian, 53, admitted to orchestrating a scheme to avoid the embargo by shipping the aerospace equipment to Iran through the U.K. Prosecutors say the two eventually intended to sell the parts — which were for nonmilitary use only — to national carrier Iran...
