Netflix Acquires Exclusive Disney Movie Broadcast Rights

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 6:42 PM EST) -- Netflix Inc. has acquired the exclusive U.S. rights to broadcast movies produced by The Walt Disney Co. in a multiyear licensing deal that a company executive described Wednesday as a “game changer” for the streaming video content company.

Beginning in 2016, Disney movies will be available on Netflix after its current deal with subscription television channel Starz LLC expires. The three-year deal also will give Netflix the right to stream titles produced by Disney subsidiaries Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios and various Disney entities.
