Hyundai Sued Over Bogus Fuel Efficiency Estimates

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 3:36 PM EST) -- Hyundai Motor Co. was hit with a proposed class action Wednesday in New Jersey federal court alleging the company overstated fuel efficiency in its 2012 and 2013 versions of the Elantra, Sonata and six other models, following similar litigation in other states.

Named plaintiff Edwin Naythons accuses Hyundai of selling and leasing its cars with manufacturer's window stickers that contain false and overstated gas mileage estimates and fuel economy rating information, in violation of the New Jersey Consumer Sales Practices Act.
