Barnes & Thornburg Partner Fights Suit Over Receiver Role

Law360, New York (December 6, 2012, 7:09 PM EST) -- A Barnes & Thornburg LLP partner serving as receiver for investment adviser The Nutmeg Group LLC asked a federal court Wednesday to toss angry investors' derivative suit seeking $50 million for her alleged violations of financial regulations and mismanagement of funds, saying she is not liable for the funds' losses.

The suit, brought by more than 90 limited partners who invested with Nutmeg in a collection of investment pools, names Leslie J. Weiss, her firm and Nutmeg as defendants, and seeks damages both individually and derivatively...
