Judge Blasts Law Firm For “Unnecessary” Work

Law360, New York (November 12, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A bankruptcy judge has rejected creditor UBS AG's request to be fully reimbursed for legal expenses connected with its involvement in the Northwest bankruptcy, ruling that Bingham McCutchen overcharged the financial giant for much of its work.

On Friday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Allan Gropper awarded UBS $203,000 and costs and disbursements of $4,095.75, barely half of the $414,368 that the administrative loan agent had been seeking to cover Bingham's legal tab.
