Afghan Gov't Still Not Ready To Take Over Rebuilding: DOD

Law360, New York (December 11, 2012, 8:55 PM EST) -- The Defense Department's latest semiannual report on Afghanistan progress highlights some of the many challenges in turning over control to Afghanistan's still-developing government, noting that corruption and governmental inexperience have slowed efforts to transition rebuilding work from NATO contractors to the government.

The DOD's 174-page report, released Monday, said that the Afghan government, particularly the Afghanistan National Army and the national police force, have made strides toward self-sufficiency but still need support from NATO nations and their contractors.
