Tremont's Owner Beats Madoff Investor Suit

Law360, New York (December 13, 2012, 4:26 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Tuesday dismissed Oppenheimer Acquisition Co. from a suit brought by seven investors blaming its subsidiary Tremont Group Holdings Inc. — operator of the second-largest group of feeder funds in Bernard L. Madoff’s Ponzi scheme — for more than $116 million in losses.

U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Griesa reconsidered a motion for dismissal he denied in September, ruling Tuesday that the plaintiffs failed to plead Oppenheimer’s culpable participation in the activities at Tremont that led to the investor losses....
