Battle Over Labeling Genetically Modified Food Continues

Law360, New York (December 19, 2012, 1:23 PM EST) -- The proponents of strict labeling for any sort of genetically engineered food ingredients lost at the ballot box in California this year but are continuing their campaign in the courts, including an Election Day volley across the bow of Pepperidge Farm.

Earlier this year, Proposition 37, a voter initiative also known as the California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act, received enough signatures from registered voters to qualify for the 2012 ballot in California. The initiative would have required certain raw and processed foods that "may have been entirely or partially produced with genetic engineering to be labeled as such....
