Avon Loses Bid To Nix Claims It Concealed Animal Tests

Law360, Los Angeles (December 13, 2012, 7:32 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday refused to throw out allegations that Avon Products Inc. lied to customers by hiding the fact that it conducts animal testing in foreign countries, saying plaintiffs sufficiently pled that Avon fraudulently concealed that it tests on animals.

In a Wednesday order, U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney denied Avon’s motion to dismiss two new named plaintiffs and their fraud and unfair competition claims in an amended complaint filed in October, and also denied the beauty products maker's motion to strike...
