Sprint Offers $2.1B For Remaining Clearwire Stake

Law360, New York (December 13, 2012, 12:53 PM EST) -- Sprint Nextel Inc. on Thursday lobbed a $2.1 billion bid to round out its stake in broadband Internet service provider Clearwire Corp., the latest proposed deal involving Sprint as it vies for a bigger slice of the U.S. wireless market.

The move closes longstanding speculation that the mobile carrier would try to take over Texas-based Clearwire, an attractive target because of its hefty chunk of the wireless spectrum. In October, Sprint said it would pay $100 million to bring its ownership stake in the broadband provider...
