Judith Regan Sues News Corp. For "Smear Campaign"

Law360, New York (November 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Judith Regan, the would-be publisher of O.J. Simpson’s hypothetical tell-all “If I Did It,” sued her former employers on Tuesday for $100 million, alleging that they orchestrated a smear campaign against her to protect the presidential ambitions of former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

Regan worked for HarperCollins Publishers LLC, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. Her complaint alleged that her reputation was sullied because of her past relationship with Bernard Kerik. Kerik was the police commissioner under Giuliani and was recently indicted for federal...
