NJ Judge Backs $134M Waste-Disposal Contract Award

Law360, New York (December 13, 2012, 8:09 PM EST) -- A New Jersey judge on Wednesday denied attempts by Waste Management of New Jersey Inc. and Covanta 4Recovery LP to block the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority from contracting for waste-disposal services with another company that was the lowest responsible bidder at $134 million.

Refusing requests for an interlocutory injunction, Morris County Superior Court Judge Thomas L. Weisenbeck disagreed with Waste Management and Covanta that the authority should have rejected the winning bid from Solid Waste Services Inc. because the company, which does business as J.P....
