Judge Punts On Apple's Bid To Bar Samsung SEP Claims

Law360, New York (December 13, 2012, 4:16 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Thursday declined to rule on a motion by Apple Inc. arguing that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s alleged abuse of the standard-setting process should bar it from asserting its standard-essential patents against Apple.

In her first order on one of the numerous post-trial motions filed by both sides, Judge Lucy Koh said that ruling on Apple's claims of misconduct by Samsung would not provide it with any meaningful relief, since the jury ruled in August that Apple did not infringe Samsung's patents. ...
