GAO Cites Room To Improve Implementing DOD Reform Act

Law360, New York (December 14, 2012, 6:24 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense still faces challenges in implementing provisions of the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act of 2009, limiting its ability to broaden the law's influence to more programs, the U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a report released Friday.

While the steps the DOD has taken to implement the Reform Act's most fundamental provisions have enabled it to approve acquisition strategies and better monitor weapon acquisition programs, the GAO said, it faces five challenges to the broader application of the programs.
